Sister Jane
About Sister Jane

February 2010

"All full of grit and wanderlust, Sister Jane will deal you a hand of dirty roadhouse blues and psychedelic shanties. They'll lead you into the night with hypnotic flute solos and lungfuls of soul..." (twothousand.com)

Sister Jane’s seed was sown in the misty Blue Mountain winter of 2006. It was from these sparse lands, west of Sydney, where they emerged into the light. The seed germinated into sound and was captured by the band's guitarist and producer Liam Judson (The Lovetones, Belles Will Ring, Cloud Control), on their own analogue (mostly vintage) equipment. Their sound spans the decades with cited influences from Canned Heat to Crazy Horse; from The Church to Mazzy Star to the Stone Roses.

Sister Jane are:

Lauren Crew (vocals, flute, organ and harmonica)

Dan Davey (vocals and guitar)

Joe Driver (drums and percussion)

Liam Judson (lead guitar and production)

Mark Waite-Pullan (bass guitar)

Here's what the collective consciousness has to say:

"...psychedelic power house band Sister Jane... made quite an impression on Sydney’s underground music scene... Blending sixties blues and psychedelic rock to produce a smooth, distinctive sound..." - MusicFeeds (READ THE FULL INTERVIEW HERE)

"...well-written songs brought to life with strong, windy guitar and hectic organ riffs..." - The AU review

"...when Dan sings it sounds like he smokes fifty cigarettes a day, is made up of 87% liquor and never asks for a moment of your time... So take a moment of your time and give their song, Shacked Up Blues, a listen" - Lost At E Minor
